2022 Bayliner DX2050 from a yard in Oklahoma City, picked up at the pace ace lot in Karnes City

this is the wife writing, my husband reads and does not type. we are in Three Rivers, ten minutes from the Calliham ramp on Choke Canyon, three kids, and we have wanted a deck boat for years. we read the SunDeck 217 thread on here and it pushed us to actually look at Pace Ace Motors instead of just talking about it.

what we bought: a 2022 Bayliner DX2050 with a Mercury 150 FourStroke, 96 hours, on the factory single axle trailer. it had been parked at a lender's yard in Oklahoma City and still wore an Oklahoma registration. Bayliner lists that boat around 52 new with the 150. we bid 31,400. we had talked about 30 and my husband added the 1,400 in the driveway because "somebody else is thinking 30 too." i do not know if he was right but we won.

the part we did different from the 217 thread. delivery from Oklahoma City to Three Rivers would have been free, it is about 470 miles, inside their thousand. but Karnes City is 45 minutes from us on TX-72 and we wanted to see the boat before it came to the house, so we asked for pickup at the lot instead. they were fine with that. more on the pickup once i get the kids to bed, and yes it has been on Choke Canyon twice.

the pickup. you come into Karnes City on TX-123 and the yard is right there before town. we drove up on a friday in our F-150, they had the boat on the trailer in the yard already, and a man walked us around it with the listing on his tablet, read the HIN and the motor serial against the packet, and hooked the trailer to our truck and tested the lights. we started the motor on a hose. my husband crawled under the trailer for ten minutes and came out satisfied. ID again at the counter even though we had already been verified online. maybe an hour total.

the honest fault: the ski locker latch was broken, the lid just sits there. 22 dollars on amazon, done. the honest limitation: the Oklahoma registration. Texas cannot just transfer it, we had to bring the Oklahoma title that the lender signed off, the lien release, the bill of sale and the broker's packet to the Live Oak County office in George West, and the first time we went the clerk wanted a pencil tracing of the HIN, which we did not have. second trip with the tracing and the PWD 143 and 144, and the Texas title and decals came three weeks later. it is done, it just took two trips. the trailer was the easy part, it was under 4,000 gross so it was a plate and no title.

the 100 hour service we did at the dealer in Kenedy for 410. hours on the computer were 97. no faults.

hubs checked, grease was old but not bad, repacked both sides, 14 dollars. we have 19 hours of ours on it now. the wind thing is real, we got caught on the south shore last saturday and the kids thought it was a ride and i did not. no problems with the boat at all. the karnes city lot answered one email since the pickup, about the second key, which they did not have and neither did the lender. so we are a one key family. the pace ace listing had said one key, i just had not read that line. next year i will write up what it costs to keep a boat for twelve months since that is the number nobody tells you.
